When something goes wrong in Bali: who to call and where to go
112 is Indonesia's single emergency number, and a call to it is free. The numbers of the separate services can still be used as well: 110 police, 113 fire, 115 search and rescue, 117 disasters, 119 medical emergencies. This page lists them with what we could and could not confirm, then points, situation by situation, to the page of this guide that covers each one.
Emergency numbers
Numbers of Indonesian public services, as their own pages and regulations state them on 16 October 2026. We tested no number by calling it. Where a text is silent, we say so.
| Number | What it is | Articles and sources |
|---|---|---|
| 112 | The single emergency number. The regulation says it serves fire, riots, accidents, natural disasters, health problems, disturbances of security and public order, and other emergencies that the government names. A call to the emergency call centre costs the caller nothing. The national system is run by the communications ministry; in each place the call centre is run by the government of the kabupaten or kota, which must apply to the ministry to switch it on. The next section says where Bali stands. | Permenkominfo 10/2016 Pasal 3(1), 4(2), 5(1), 6(1) and (3), 13 |
| 110 | Police. Polri shows Call Center 110 on its website, and the Bali police portal shows 110 as its number. A page of a Bali Polres says that the 110 line gives information and takes reports (accident, disaster, riot and others) and complaints, and that it is free of charge. | Polri website; Polda Bali portal; Polres Jembrana page "Layanan 110" (20 August 2025) |
| 113 | The fire service. A page of the Badung regency communication office (4 April 2023) names 113 for fire, beside 110, 115, 117 and 119, among the numbers that can still be used next to 112. We found no regulation that sets 113. | Diskominfo Kabupaten Badung, "Call Center 112 Kabupaten Badung" |
| 119 | The Ministry of Health's call centre for medical emergencies, the entry to the integrated emergency system (SPGDT). A call from anywhere in Indonesia reaches the national command centre, which sorts it and passes an emergency to the Public Safety Center (PSC) of the district or city; the PSC works 24 hours a day. The Ministry said on 5 October 2024 that 119 can be called in every district and city, that where there is no PSC the call goes to the nearest hospital, that the PSC can send an ambulance and take the patient to the nearest facility, and that the call can also be made through the SATUSEHAT Mobile app. | Permenkes 19/2016 Pasal 1 angka 3 to 6; Pasal 8, 9, 10; Ministry statement of 5 October 2024 |
| 118 | Often given as an ambulance number. Permenkes 19/2016 names 119 only, and we read no national text that names 118, so we list it as not confirmed. For an ambulance use 119 or 112. | Permenkes 19/2016 Pasal 1 angka 4 |
| 115 | The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas). Its website shows 115 as its emergency contact for search and rescue ("Kontak Darurat SAR"), with a chat link. | Basarnas website |
| 117 | The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). Its website lists Call Center 117 and an operations centre (Pusdalops) marked as working 24 hours. | BNPB website |
| (0361) 245397 | The disaster management agency (BPBD) of the Province of Bali. Its contact page lists this office telephone. The page does not say that the line is staffed around the clock. | BPBD Provinsi Bali, contact page |
| (021) 196 | The meteorology, climate and geophysics agency (BMKG). Its website lists Contact Center (021) 196 and the Info BMKG app; it is the source of weather, earthquake and tsunami information. We found no text that makes it a line for rescue. For rescue use 112, 115 or 117. | BMKG website |

Calling 112 in Bali, and when the call does not connect
The rule is national: the single emergency number is 112, and a call to the call centre costs the caller nothing (Permenkominfo 10/2016 Pasal 3(1) and 13). The local call centre belongs to the government of the kabupaten or kota, which must ask the ministry to switch it on (Pasal 6(1) and (3)). So whether a call to 112 is answered by a call centre of your own kabupaten depends on that government, not on the regulation.
Bali is in the middle of changing this. On 24 September 2026, at Nusa Dua, the Province of Bali, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the governments of the kabupaten and kota of Bali committed to speeding up the roll-out of 112 across Bali, and the Ministry of Home Affairs and the communications ministry signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen and speed up the service. BNPB's report of the meeting says that Bali is directed to be a pilot for strengthening an integrated 112 in all its kabupaten and kota, and that the Ministry of Home Affairs hopes to reach all of Indonesia within two years. A report of the provincial disaster agency gives 5,889 emergency calls in Bali from 1 January to 19 September 2026, 2,877 of them (48.8 percent) in Denpasar. A page of Badung regency lists Denpasar among the ten pilot cities of 2016. We found no official list of the kabupaten and kota that answer 112 today.
The same Badung page lists 110 for police, 113 for fire, 115 for Basarnas, 117 for BNPB and 119 for the ambulance of the Ministry of Health as numbers run by the central government that can still be used beside 112. It also says that a call to 112 is free and can be made when the phone is locked.
Our suggestion, not a rule: if 112 does not connect, or the call centre cannot help, call the number of the service you need from the table above, and say first where you are. Take any other number only from an official page.

Situation by situation
Each answer is short and points to the page of this guide that covers the situation. Those pages carry the facts, the articles and the open points; this page does not repeat them.
Someone needs a doctor or a hospital
Call 119, or 112. Which hospital or clinic to go to is not for this guide to say. The page on healthcare sets out what a health facility may not do in an emergency. The page on health insurance sets out how BPJS covers emergency care.
In depth
- Emergencies: what a facility may not do Healthcare in Bali for a foreign resident: patient rights, emergencies, medicines
- What the card covers, referral and emergencies Health insurance for foreigners living in Bali: BPJS and private cover
A police officer stopped me, or I was in a road accident
If anyone is hurt, call 119 or 112 first. The page on driving and vehicles sets out what an officer may check and take at a stop, how a ticket is settled, what a driver must do after an accident, and what to do about a stolen vehicle or lost vehicle papers.
In depth
- A police stop and the ticket Driving in Bali: licence, vehicle papers and fines
- After an accident Driving in Bali: licence, vehicle papers and fines

I am held by immigration or the police
Ask who is holding you, under which law, and for the written decision. The page on detention and deportation sets out the first questions to ask, how an immigration action differs from a criminal case, how your embassy or consulate comes in, and what your family can do.

I paid someone and think it was a scam
If the money went by bank transfer or from an e-wallet, time matters. The page on disputes sets out the two reports that its sources describe, the official channels for reports, and the licence rule for money changers.

I lost my passport or my permit card
Your passport is issued by your own country, so a new passport or a travel document is a matter for your embassy or consulate (see the section on consulates below). The page on disputes describes the police counter (SPKT), where a report is made. The page on KITAS and KITAP says a lost permit card is replaced with a police report of the loss. For a lost foreign passport we found no Indonesian text that sets a procedure, and the page on extending or changing a visa says so.

An earthquake, a flood, an eruption or another natural disaster
For rescue, or if someone is hurt, call 112. The table above gives 115 for search and rescue and 117 for disasters; BMKG publishes earthquake and tsunami information but is not a rescue line. For a person who is hurt, the page on healthcare sets out what a health facility may not do in an emergency. The page on natural hazards sets out which hazards the state maps for Bali and where the official warnings and maps are.
In depth
- Emergencies: what a facility may not do Healthcare in Bali for a foreign resident: patient rights, emergencies, medicines
- How to look up your own plot Natural hazards and insurance: checking a plot before you sign
A conflict with the banjar or the village
If there is a threat or violence, call 110 or 112. A disagreement about a rule, a fee or a ceremony has its own route, through the banjar, the village and the Majelis Desa Adat. The page on disputes sets out how that route relates to the courts, and the page on living with the community sets out the steps and what the texts leave open.
In depth
- Desa adat: settlement by the customary village When something goes wrong: land disputes and complaints in Bali
- If a disagreement with the banjar arises Living next to the customary community in Bali
A dispute over land, a purchase or a contract
This is rarely a matter of hours, but time limits exist. The page on disputes sets out the routes: a complaint and mediation at the land office, a challenge of a certificate, the civil court, and a complaint about the notary or PPAT who made the deed. Our suggestion, not a rule: sign nothing new while the dispute is open without asking a notary or an advocate.

What can my embassy or consulate do
It helps its own nationals; what it does in your case is the policy of its own state. The next section sets out what the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations says a consulate may do, and what it does not list. For an arrest or detention, the page on detention and deportation sets out the notification rights.
In depth
- The embassy or consulate Detention and deportation of foreigners in Indonesia
What a consulate can and cannot do
Indonesia approved the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 by UU 1/1982 (Pasal 1). Article 5 lists the functions of a consulate. Those that matter to a person in trouble are: protecting in the receiving State the interests of its nationals, within the limits permitted by international law (a); issuing passports and travel documents to its nationals (d); helping and assisting its nationals (e); acting as notary and civil registrar where nothing in the law of the receiving State is contrary (f); and, subject to the practices and procedures of the receiving State, representing its nationals or arranging appropriate representation before its courts and other authorities, to obtain provisional measures when a national cannot defend his rights in time (i).
What the list does not contain: a power to overrule an Indonesian authority, to stop a procedure, to pay a fine or a bill, or to act as defence counsel in the case. Article 5(m) also allows any other function the sending State entrusts and Indonesian law does not prohibit, or to which Indonesia does not object; whether that includes paying is set out below. Where the Convention speaks of a lawyer, it says that a consular officer may arrange for legal representation (Article 36(1)(c)), not that the consulate provides or pays for it, and it says that these rights are exercised in conformity with the laws and regulations of the receiving State, which must enable full effect to be given to their purposes (Article 36(2)). That is our reading of the text, not a statement about any embassy.
What a particular embassy or consulate does for a national in trouble, whether it lends money, pays for a lawyer or a ticket, or visits, is the policy of that state, and we read no embassy's policy. We list no embassy; take the address and the emergency line of yours from the official pages of your own government. For an arrest or detention, the page on detention and deportation sets out the notification rights under Article 36 and the Indonesian texts that carry them.
What we could not confirm
Which kabupaten and kota of Bali answer 112 with their own call centre today. The sources above give the commitment of 24 September 2026 and one count of calls, not a list.
In which languages 112, 110, 115, 117 and 119 take calls. No text we read says.
Whether 113 is set as the fire number by a regulation: we found it only on a regency page. Whether 118 is an official ambulance number: Permenkes 19/2016 names 119 only.
A number for the Bali tourist police (polisi pariwisata). Polri's report of 7 April 2026 speaks of a stronger presence of tourist police in Bali, but no official page we read gives them a number, so we list none.
Whether a call to 115, 117 or 119 is free of charge. Pasal 13 covers the call centre of the single number, and a Polres page says 110 is free; we found nothing on the others.
Whether the office line of BPBD Bali is staffed around the clock: its page does not say.
A procedure in the Indonesian texts we read for a foreigner who has lost a foreign passport: see the page on extending or changing a visa.

How to read this page
This page is a map, not an answer for each case. It lists the official numbers of public services as their own sources give them on 16 October 2026, and sends you, situation by situation, to the page of this guide that covers the situation. It names no hospital, clinic, doctor, lawyer, embassy or person. It is general information, not legal advice and not medical advice. Numbers and services change: take a number you rely on from the official site of the service.
The numbers 112 and 119 are kept only here, not on the page on healthcare, so that a correction is made once.
